There are 25 schools in Nurek, which five of them is in town, four kindergartens. There are a lot of clubs, circles, sections and sport-gardens in schools of Nurek.We have two colleges: Pedagogical and Medical colleges. The Pedagogical college prepares teachers only for small schoolchildren and the Medical college prepares nurses.

This is a complex hydraulic installation the purpose of which is not only to supply the cheapest power of electricity of Tajikistan and other republics of Central Asia but also to solve many problems of irrigation and the development of the new lands. Baypazi Hydroelectric Power Station, the Joint-Stock Companies; "Nurekgesstroy" and "Sangtuda", the plant (ZZHBI) are the most industrial production in our town.
