Tongi is one of the famous place in Bangladesh in Gazipur. It is a significant place for holding the 2nd (second) biggest muslim congregation, Known as the "World Estema" as well as an industrial area. But this densly populated area was not in the same aspect about hundred years ago. The place has another familiarity known as the town of "Sonavan" It is said that a saint named Sonavan came here with 20 disciples to preach islam and to devote himself in the meditation of Allah. At that time this area was dominated by the Hindu Zamindar. The place was full of many forest and those forests were infested with many wild animals. Subsequently, with the devlopement of communication this place has been tunred into a populated area. People coming from the rural area amassed in search fo livelihood and for the betterment of the student life. Now Tongi is a known as the first class municipal area.

In Our Community the most important organizations are the local schools. In them the main name that comes as schools is SIRAJ UDDIN SARKER VIDYANIKETAN. This is the biggest school in our area. Near about 60 teachers teaches 3000 (Three Thousand) students in 2shifts from the class Baby to Ten. As this is the main and big school for this locality so students from far and near come to get admission in this school. With the other school, SSV (Siraj Uddin Sarker Vidyaniketan) is the heart of community people because it is making our next generation educated, with whom we will able to touch our Goal.
Organizations for Health:
We have a huge number of private clinic to ensure better health of our community people. We also have one Government Hospital in the center point of city. Poor people get free treatment and medicine from the hospital. This is a treasure for the community because it is helping the people the to live healthy and wealthy. This kind of organization arrange various kind of health awarness program for the community people and our people participate in it to keep their helth better from the disease. We alwasy celebrate immunization day to keep free our community children free from this disease.
Cultural Institution:
Community People are rich with different kind of cultural institution like (Movie Theater, Amusement Park, Historical Place). These are the mirror of our community. This institutions help our community people to draw the attention of the visitors and other people from the different places. This kind of organization also the recreation for the community people. Here are the name of some park, Nandan, Water Kingdom, Fantasy Kingdom, Water World, Heritage Park etc.
Natural Resources:
Our communities are rich with so many natural resources such as Gas, Coal, Sand, Water etc. Using these natural resources we are getting benefited. It is not only benefited our community but also the country and the other country of the world as well. Exporting these natural resources to the other countries we can earn a lot of foreign currency.
Market/ Shopping Mall/ Office:
In our community there are so many markets. We live in the main market area as named TONGI BAZAR. This is the biggest market in our city. People of our area produce crops and vegetable to sell in the market. We also have many shopping mall in our area. They are rich with our Nakshi Kantha, Cane Product, Plastic Product, Garments, Glass Product, Ceramic, Jewelry, House holds, Showpieces, Man and ladies ware. We also have man industry and office in our community. Many Government and None Government Organization work in our community.
Institution for Law:
For the security of community people we have police station, court, Municipality in our community. This police station secured our community people from Thief, cheeter, law breaker criminal etc. This institution are very important resource for the community people. So they try to help the police all the time to do their job well.
