  • Union of Palestinian Medical Relief Committees
The Union of Palestinian Medical Relief Committees (PMRS) is a grassroots, community-based Palestinian health organization. PMRS was founded in 1979 by a group of Palestinian doctors and health professionals seeking to supplement the decayed and inadequate health infrastructure caused by years of Israeli military occupation. It is non-profit, voluntary, and one of the largest health NGOs in Palestine. PMRS's national health programs emphasize prevention, education, community participation, and the empowerment of people.
PMRS seeks to improve the overall physical, mental, and social well being of all Palestinians, regardless of racial, political, social, economic or religious status. Their comprehensive health programs focus on the needs of the most vulnerable members of Palestinian society: women, children, and the poor in rural villages, refugee camps, and urban centers. They pursue their mission of Quality Health for All in over 400 communities throughout Palestine. Their permanent health care facilities include 25 community health centers in towns and villages throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and 15 specialized centers including physiotherapy centers, an optometry center, youth and community centers and medical equipment loan centers. At these locations and in mobile clinics throughout the country they conduct comprehensive Primary Health Care programs including women's health, child health, community-based rehabilitation, school health, and specialty services. Their dedicated and professional staff includes physicians, community health workers, nurses, midwives, and other health professionals, many of whom volunteer their services.

  • Zeina, The center for Families and friends of children with cancer
Center for Families and Friends of Children with Cancer “Zeina” is a non-profit non-governmental organization established with the aim of creating a basic and complete support system for the children inflicted with cancer, through the diverse programs of counseling, (psychological, social, awareness and medical).
By thriving to develop psychological and social stability and maintaining a level of awareness enough to understand their sudden illness and how to cope with it, children can glide through their harsh therapy regime with higher spirits and better adaptation tools, thus considerably raising their chances to survive. On the other hand, our graduate and postgraduate volunteers have the chance to put into practice their years of academic studies and develop their professional skills for the benefit of all.
Their Goals are:
To create a socially and psychologically supportive environment for the sick children and their families with the aim of strengthening their self esteem and encourage them in their long journey of therapy.
To help sick children pass their time with positive activities and encouraging them to express themselves through the different educational and different arts programs.
To Increase the natural capacity of the children to confront the severe reality of their illness: its implication and its hard and restricting protocols of therapy.
To Support parents by helping them get to terms with the new reality in their lives, providing medical literature and professional help when needed and counseling them on the best way they can help their children to fight the illness.
To Raise the general social awareness about cancer especially in children, by conducting seminars and workshops especially in schools and educational organizations.
To promote the concept of volunteering around the community at large, and encourage the local community to take part in the different activities undertaken by “Zeina”.
To develop a framework for a specialized professional information database to provide answers and scientific data & statistics about cancer in general, concentrating on issues of local concern with accessible data about cancer in Palestine.
