National Life
Food contributes not only to our physical survival, but to the quality of our national life and celebrations as well. Each nation usually has its own celebrations and traditions, and often different foods play important roles in them. Below are some questions that will help you explore the role food plays in our nation and our national traditions.
Each person in your group will be responsible for explaining your answers to another group, so make sure to work together and understand each other’s answers!
1. Do we have any national holidays, celebrations or traditions where particular foods are important?

2. What are the holidays? Which foods are particularly important and why?

3. Does anyone in our group know how to cook these foods? If so, who taught us? If not, who could we learn from?

4. What would these holidays be like if our traditional foods weren’t available? How would we feel?
