Objectives: By creating a “Treasure Map” of the institutions , organizations and individuals that are the “Treasured resources” of the community , one can Identify environmental, cultural , educational and health resources that can meet them goals they have for themselves and their community.
Moreover they can evaluate the contributions they can make to their community and understand that support for change already exists with their community.
Last summer , the students of Adventist International Mission School,(AIMS) Digambaritala, Comilla, took part in a Community treasure mapping project. In this prospect they visited some organizations, places, cultural and health organizations, which are of social and historical value for Comilla.
The Community Treasure Map is prepared by the students of AIMS And is Guided by the Teacher Mrs Minufar Nargis. Assistant Teacher, AIMS.
Amongst them some are placed here with all the necessary information’s and some related pictures.
Environmental and natural beauty. Nanua Dighi:
Nanua dighi is situated in the middle of Bojropur and Digambaritola of Comilla Town. Its area is more than 140 decimel. Once the Comilla district was the part of Tripura Kingdom in undivided Indian sub-continent and it was known as Chakla Rowshownabad. During the Period of the King Dharmamanykkya, The Maharaja of Tripura, Rani Naua Devi was his wife and the perfect life partner of the king. She was a kind and pious lady also.After her death the king, from his huge land , only 140 decimal area gave out for socialwelfare, and the Dighi was cut and named after the loving memory of the queen. Upto 1986 it was half done . In the year 1986 the Bangladesh Govt. took over the charge and cut it in full and reopened for the peoples social need. Now it is one of the main attraction of the town. BangladeshAcademyfor Rural Development (BARD) an autonomous national institution for training, research and experiment on rural development. Established in 1959 in Comilla, the institution is governed by a Board of Governors with the Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives as its chairman. The director general is the chief executive of the institution. One of the mandatory functions of BARD is to provide training for both officials and non-officials. During 1959-1988, a total of about 1,18,000 participants attended various training courses, visit programmes, workshops and seminars conducted by the Academy.

It is situated in Bagichagaon in comilla town. It has been established by Ostad Surendra Narayan das in the house of his own in the year 1942. It is one of the oldest music training centre at comilla. A Number of famous artists of Bandladesh television, Radio Bangladesh and in many other channels were the student of this institute . It is situated in the middle of the housing state and Bakhrabad gas office in cochaitali.
In 1992 it started with 205 beds and three major departments. Now there the departments like Surgery, gynecology, Medicine pediatric, ENT, Orthopedics etc. There is emergency. indoor and outdoor treatment facilities here. About 1500 to 2000 patients comes here for outdoor treatments every day, and for emergency and indoor treatment it varies from 4 to 400. There is a vaccination centre here and different corners for doctors, nurses and other employees. There are two operation theater in this hospital and operations are done twice a week. But the emergency operations are done as soon as possible.
Number of employees:
There are 50 doctors and 131 nursing stuff working in this hospital. Three nursing supervisor and one superintendent with a few number of third class and fourth class employee.
This is a 250 bedded hospital now, but within few days it will be 500 bedded. The treatment facilities are vary good here and all the worker are very experienced and friendly. We , the people of comilla are proud of it.
